Uzbek Lawmakers Approve Military Pension Reform Bill
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Lawmakers in Uzbekistan’s Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis have approved, in the second reading, the draft law “On State Pension Provision for Servicemen (Employees) and Their Family Members.”
The document is aimed at establishing the legal framework for assigning state pensions to military personnel and their families, as well as improving regulations governing eligibility conditions, types, amounts, and payment procedures.
In particular, the draft law proposes increasing the share of salary taken into account when calculating the base pension for individuals with more than 30 years of service from 75% to 100%. It also предусматривает changing the method for determining the base pension amount—from the current tenfold to a twelvefold calculation basis.
The proposed measures are intended to further incentivize long-serving military personnel, enhance the attractiveness of military service among young people, and strengthen patriotic values.
During the discussion, it was emphasized that the draft law had been revised ahead of the second reading, taking into account proposals from lawmakers and профильные experts expressed within the framework of the relevant working group.
Kozimjon Tojiev, a member of the Committee on International Affairs, Defense and Security, said the document is designed to improve the effectiveness of social protection for military personnel and their families, strengthen the prestige of military service, and ensure a unified and stable mechanism of legal application in the field of pension provision.
Following the review, the draft law was adopted by lawmakers and submitted to the Senate for further consideration.
