Uzbek-Iranian trade turnover exceeds US$600m in 2008

Trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Iran exceeded US$600 million in 2008, but the countries are not using their potential fully, Iranian Ambassador to Uzbekistan Mohammad Keshavarz-zadeh said at the press conference.
Mohammad Keshavarz-zadeh said the bilateral trade turnover can reach US$1 billion in near future.
Iranian envoy said Uzbekistan exports cotton, non-ferrous and ferrous metals, fertilizers, chemical fiber and other products. Iran exports to Uzbekistan mainly construction materials, washing detergents, food products, tea, fruits and others.
Keshavarz-zadeh said that transport communication occupies special place in the development of the relations between Uzbekistan and Iran. The sides are cooperating in railway, road and air transportation.
