Magnitude 3 earthquake hits Uzbekistan's Andijan region

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A magnitude 3 earthquake struck the Marhamat district of Uzbekistan's Andijan region at 08:33:36 local time on 9 August 2026, according to the Republican Center for Seismoprognostic Monitoring.

No casualties or structural damage were reported following the underground tremors.

The epicenter of the earthquake was located in Marhamat district at geographic coordinates of 40.57 degrees north latitude and 72.37 degrees east longitude, with a focal depth of 10 kilometers.

Tremors were felt with an intensity of 2 to 3 points in Marhamat district and Bulakbashi district. Seismic activity measuring 2 points was also registered in Asaka and Khojaabad districts.

The distance from the epicenter to the capital city of Tashkent was 276 kilometers in a south-easterly direction.
