Uzbek Graduates Find First Job in Under 3 Months

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Graduates of higher education institutions in Uzbekistan take an average of 2 months and 27 days to find their first job after completing their studies, according to initial results of the Graduates Quality Index (BSI) published by the National Agency for Education Quality Assurance.

The study analyzed labor market outcomes for 249,432 graduates across 170 higher education institutions, using the speed of employment as one of its key evaluation metrics.

Graduates in education fields secured employment the fastest, taking an average of 2 months and 4 days. Humanities graduates ranked second, needing about 2 months and 9 days to find work.

The longest search times for a first job were recorded among law graduates, averaging 4 months and 20 days. Similar durations were noted for graduates in occupational health and safety at 4 months and 19 days, as well as social security at 4 months and 5 days.

Significant regional differences were also observed. The shortest average job search period was recorded in Qashqadaryo region at 2 months and 8 days. Navoi and Andijan regions followed with 2 months and 9 days each.

In Namangan region, graduates required an average of 2 months and 14 days, in Ferghana region 2 months and 16 days, and in Jizzakh region 2 months and 18 days. Surxondaryo region recorded an average of 2 months and 19 days, Xorazm region 2 months and 20 days, and Sirdaryo region 2 months and 21 days.

The average job search time was 2 months and 23 days in Tashkent region and 2 months and 25 days in Bukhara region. Finding employment took more than three months on average in Samarqand region at 3 months and 3 days, Karakalpakstan at 3 months and 7 days, and Tashkent city at 3 months and 13 days.

Among the 119 universities included in the ranking, graduates of Qarshi International University found employment the fastest, taking an average of 1 month and 4 days.

Other top-performing institutions by employment speed included the educational program delivery center of Webster University in Tashkent at 1 month and 8 days, Nordic International University at 1 month and 14 days, the Tashkent branch of Plekhanov Russian University of Economics at 1 month and 17 days, and Andijan State University at 1 month and 18 days.

The longest job search period was recorded among graduates of the Tashkent branch of VGIK, taking 8 months and 13 days. Graduates of the Urgench branch of the State Academy of Choreography of Uzbekistan averaged 6 months and 1 day.

These were followed by the Tashkent branch of Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas at 5 months and 21 days, the ISFT Institute at 5 months and 13 days, and the Tashkent Pharmaceutical Institute at 5 months and 10 days.

However, the Tashkent branch of VGIK ranked first in average graduate earnings, according to the published Graduates Quality Index results.
