Uzbekistan and Mongolia to Expand Trade and Logistics

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan and Mongolia have discussed the further development of trade, economic, transport, and logistics cooperation, including new international routes and the digitalization of cross-border processes, according to Uzbekistan's Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade.

The talks took place at the ministry with the participation of Dulguun Damdin-Od, Executive Director of the International Think Tank for Landlocked Developing Countries.

Trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Mongolia reached US$51.8 million in 2025. Participants also highlighted the outcomes of a business forum held in May 2026, which brought together representatives from more than 70 Uzbek and Mongolian companies.

During the meeting, special attention was given to expanding the production of high-value-added goods and establishing resilient supply chains. The sides also explored potential new international transport corridors, the simplification of trade procedures, and the digitalization of cross-border operations.

Additionally, the parties reviewed prospects for the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway project. Participants assessed that the railway's implementation will create new opportunities to expand intermodal transport links connecting Mongolia with Uzbekistan, other Central Asian nations, and the South Caucasus.

Following the negotiations, the two sides agreed to cooperate in preparing for and hosting the 25th CAREC Ministerial Conference, scheduled to take place in Ulaanbaatar in October 2026.
