Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Jamshid Kuchkarov has arrived in New Delhi to attend the 18th BRICS Summit, Indian media reported.
The summit is being held on 12–13 September at the Bharat Mandapam convention centre under India’s chairmanship. This is the fourth time India has chaired BRICS, following its previous presidencies in 2012, 2016 and 2021. The event is being held under the theme “Strengthening Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Stability” and coincides with the 20th anniversary of the grouping.
The summit is attended by leaders of BRICS member states, including Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese President Xi Jinping and South African President Cyril Ramaphosa. Brazil is represented by Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira.
The programme on 12 September includes a closed-door session, bilateral meetings, a visit to the Bharat Innovates exhibition and a formal reception hosted by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
An expanded session in the outreach and BRICS Plus formats is scheduled for 13 September under the theme “Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Stability: Shaping the Future for Inclusive Global Growth.”
Alongside leaders of BRICS member states, the session will be attended by heads of delegations from partner countries, including Vietnam, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Nigeria, Thailand, Uganda, Belarus, Cuba, Burundi and Uzbekistan. Representatives of the Philippines, Bahrain and Uruguay are also expected to attend.
Uzbekistan became a BRICS partner country following the grouping’s summit in Kazan in 2024.
The New Delhi summit concluded with the unanimous adoption of the Delhi Declaration. BRICS countries reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening multilateralism and the central role of the United Nations in the international relations system, and opposed unilateral coercive measures.
