Uzbek AI Startup Speko Joins Y Combinator Accelerator
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Speko, an artificial intelligence startup founded by Karakalpakstan native Beknazar Abdikamalov, has joined Y Combinator, one of the world's leading startup accelerators.
Earlier, during a visit to Karakalpakstan, Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the new IT Park building and was introduced to Abdikamalov's work.
At the time, the president noted the entrepreneur's achievements, saying his previous startup had become Meta's first investment in Asia and had been recognised by Forbes. He wished Abdikamalov further success.
Speko is an intelligent platform for routing voice AI models. It automatically selects the most effective combination of speech recognition technologies, large language models (LLMs) and speech synthesis based on the language, use case and performance.
According to the founder, the idea emerged after several years of testing different combinations of voice models.
He said existing solutions quickly become outdated as new technologies emerge. Speko continuously evaluates models based on factors including recognition accuracy, processing speed, time to generate the first response and cost, automatically selecting the most effective option.
The platform also publishes comparative analyses of voice AI models on the specialised resource benchmarks.speko.ai. Developers can connect existing voice AI agents through a single API, while the system automatically updates routing when more efficient models become available, eliminating the need to modify software code.
The project's founders called on Uzbek developers to build startups targeting global markets, expand exports of digital products and establish development teams and service operations in Uzbekistan to create new jobs.
