Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Two citizens of Uzbekistan were detained at Phuket International Airport after customs officials discovered more than 26 kilograms of cannabis products in their luggage, Thai media outlet The Thaiger reported.

The incident occurred on 1 July 2026, shortly before the passengers were scheduled to board a flight out of Thailand.

During an inspection of several suitcases, customs officers uncovered dried cannabis flowers, cannabis resin, and processed cannabis products. According to the publication, the men were attempting to illegally export the items from the country.

A search of the first passenger's luggage revealed 30 vacuum-sealed packages containing dried cannabis flowers with a total weight of 9.8 kilograms, including packaging, alongside 14 slabs of processed cannabis weighing a combined 1.03 kilograms.

An inspection of the second Uzbek citizen's luggage turned up 30 packages of dried cannabis flowers with a total weight of 9.8 kilograms and eight packages of cannabis resin weighing 4.1 kilograms. Officers also found processed cannabis products, consisting of one package, five slabs, and nine bricks, with a total weight of 2 kilograms including packaging.
