Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan tennis player Maria Timofeeva advanced to the second round of the US Open after defeating Tamara Zidansek of Slovenia in her opening match.
Timofeeva secured the victory in straight sets with a score of 6-3, 7-5.
Timofeeva is currently ranked 86th in the WTA singles rankings. Zidansek holds the 146th position in the world rankings. The Slovenian player previously reached a career-high ranking of world number 22 in 2022 and was a semifinalist at the French Open in 2021.
