Tashkent Tightens Enforcement on Illegal Parking Rules
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Authorities in Tashkent are moving toward stricter enforcement of rules governing stopping and parking of vehicles across the city. The measures are aimed at improving road safety and creating a more orderly urban environment.
According to the city administration and the capital’s Traffic Management Center, violations are regularly recorded in different districts where vehicles are left on sidewalks, near pedestrian crossings, at public transport stops, in green zones, and in areas where stopping or parking is prohibited by road signs. Such cases obstruct the movement of pedestrians, public transport, emergency services, and other road users.
Officials also noted that these violations particularly affect elderly citizens, parents with strollers, people with disabilities, and children, reducing overall accessibility of urban infrastructure.
As part of the strengthened enforcement measures, authorities announced the introduction of vehicle towing practices for cars parked in violation of the rules. Such vehicles will be relocated to designated impound lots in accordance with established procedures.
The aim of the new policy is to ensure free and safe use of public space and restore the basic principle of urban accessibility, where streets remain open to all categories of residents.
City authorities urged drivers to strictly comply with traffic rules when choosing parking or stopping locations, stressing that violations will result in vehicle towing and applicable penalties.
