Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Tashkent has increased the number of metro trains and shortened service intervals during the morning rush hour.
The decision followed passenger traffic monitoring conducted in the capital's metro system by the Tashkent Traffic Management Center in cooperation with Toshkent Metropoliteni JSC, the center said.
On the Chilanzar Line, the number of trainsets operating between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m. was increased from 27 to 28. An additional train was put into service to increase the frequency of operations.
On the Uzbekistan Line, the number of trains operating from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. was increased from 16 to 18. As a result, the interval between trains was reduced from 3.5 minutes to 3 minutes.
In addition, train intervals on the Uzbekistan Line were also significantly reduced throughout the day compared with previous levels.
The Traffic Management Center said the measures would reduce passenger waiting times at stations and make more effective use of the transport system's existing capacity.
The center continues to monitor traffic and passenger flows in the capital. Needs identified through the analysis are being addressed in stages, in cooperation with relevant organizations and through practical measures.
