Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Tashkent City Hall has named the preliminary cause of an emergency situation on Glinka Street, reporting that gas from a 219 mm underground pipeline accumulated in a heating network chamber, leading to the incident.

An inspection revealed several leak points along a section of the gas pipeline covering an area of approximately 375 square centimeters, with the damaged portion measuring 15 by 25 centimeters.

Specialized experts are continuing to study the causes of the leak and the full circumstances surrounding the event. Municipal authorities stressed that it is essential not only to eliminate the consequences of the accident but also to verify the condition of engineering utility networks to prevent similar occurrences in the future.

Road restoration work will resume once the technical inspection is completed, with the affected street section expected to reopen to vehicular traffic shortly.

A criminal case has been opened regarding the incident, and investigative actions are underway. Legal evaluations will be applied to the actions of responsible individuals upon the conclusion of the investigation.

Tashkent City Hall stated that the situation remains under the constant control of city authorities.
