Spain’s Talgo to help Uzbekistan to launch high-speed train
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) --
Talgo (Spain) and Uzbekistan Temir Yollari (Uzbekistan Railways) signed an agreement on the project of launching high-speed train AVE (Alta Velocidad Española, Spanish high-speed) between Tashkent and Samarkand.
The agreement was singed within the visit of the Spanish Foreign Minister Miguel Ãngel Moratinos to Uzbekistan on Friday, 3 July 2009.
The realization of the project will be launched this year. The train speed will reach 250 km per hour.
Currently, Uzbekistan Temir Yollari runs high-speed train Registan between Tashkent and Samarkand, which was launched in January 2004. The train delivers passengers from one destination to another within 3.5 hours.
