Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Spanish hotel company Barceló Hotel Group is considering projects in Uzbekistan, including the construction of four- and five-star hotels. This was discussed during a meeting between Sukhrobjon Bobokalonov, deputy chairman of Uzbekistan’s Tourism Committee, and a company delegation led by CEO Raul Gonzalez.

The parties discussed the accelerated development of the tourism sector, expansion of hotel infrastructure and efforts to attract international hotel brands to Uzbekistan. Particular attention was given to opportunities for foreign investment in tourism.

Representatives of Barceló Hotel Group were briefed on the conditions being created in Uzbekistan for foreign investors, the development of tourism zones and clusters, and existing measures to support the hotel business.

During the talks, the Spanish company expressed interest in entering the Uzbek market. In particular, the parties are considering the construction of four- and five-star hotels, with the properties subsequently being placed under Barceló Hotel Group management.

Another potential area of cooperation could involve managing existing tourism facilities. The company could also participate in their renovation and further development in line with international standards.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to arrange a visit by Barceló Hotel Group specialists to Uzbekistan. They will examine promising tourism facilities and investment projects, after which the possibility of implementing hotel projects with the company’s participation will be considered.

Potential destinations include Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara, Khiva and other tourist regions of Uzbekistan.
