Shomurodov Nets Brace in Basaksehir’s 4-0 Win
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In the 31st round of the Turkish championship, İstanbul Başakşehir F.K. secured a dominant 4-0 home victory over Kasımpaşa S.K..
Captain of the Uzbekistan national team Eldor Shomurodov was one of the key figures of the match, scoring in the 5th and 87th minutes. The forward played the full match and brought his tally in the current Super Lig season to 20 goals.
The lead was extended midway through the first half thanks to a goal from Bertuğ Özgür, while in the 44th minute the visitors were reduced to ten men following the dismissal of defender Rodrigo Becão. After the break, the hosts maintained control of the game: Davie Selke scored in the 81st minute, before Shomurodov completed his brace to seal the final result.
Midfielder Abbosbek Fayzullaev was not included in the matchday squad.
Following the round, Başakşehir moved to fifth place in the standings with 52 points. The team will face Fenerbahçe S.K. away on May 3.
In the league’s scoring race, Shomurodov ranks second, trailing only Paul Onuachu of Trabzonspor, who has 22 goals.
