Russia and Uzbekistan strengthen cooperation on biological security issues
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 2 April, Russian-Uzbek consultations took place in Moscow in an interdepartmental format, focusing on issues related to biological security. This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.
The parties exchanged assessments of current biological threats in Central Asia and globally, discussed prospects for bilateral cooperation in the field of biological security, and reviewed measures to strengthen the Biological and Toxin Weapons Convention (BTWC) regime.
During the meeting, the positions of Russia and Uzbekistan on biological security issues were confirmed to be aligned. The need for continued coordination and constructive cooperation was emphasized, both bilaterally and within relevant international frameworks, particularly the BTWC and the United Nations.
