Only 5.8 million people are officially employed in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) -- Only 5.8 million people are officially employed in Uzbekistan. This was reported by the press service of the State Tax Committee.

According to the department, the number of active population of Uzbekistan is 13.2 million people.

Of these, 5.8 million people are officially employed, which is 44% of the country’s active population.

The State Tax Committee notes that the remainder of this category of the population, including labor migrants, is on the “shadow” labor market and receives a salary “in envelopes”.
