Court to Hear Case Against Ex-Deputy Interior Minister

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A criminal case against former Deputy Interior Minister and head of the Public Security Department Bekmurod Tozhimirzayevich Abdullaev will be heard by the Yangihayot District Criminal Court. The first hearing is scheduled for 29 July.

Abdullaev has been charged under several paragraphs and parts of Article 167 of Uzbekistan’s Criminal Code, which provides for liability for embezzlement through misappropriation or diversion of funds.

A total of 30 people are defendants in the case. Most of them have been charged under paragraphs “a” and “c” of Part 3 of Article 167 of the Criminal Code.

Bekmurod Abdullaev served as deputy interior minister and head of the Public Security Department from April 2021. He was dismissed from the post in November 2025.

In January 2026, it became known that he had been detained and remanded in custody.
