Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) will discuss expanding climate cooperation and attracting investment in projects to strengthen the country’s resilience at the 31st Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP31).

A thematic event titled “Uzbekistan–UNDP Strategic Climate Partnership: From Commitments to Investment and Resilience” is scheduled for 11 November 2026 at the Uzbekistan National Pavilion in Antalya, Türkiye.

The discussions will focus on implementing Uzbekistan’s national climate commitments under the Paris Agreement, particularly the country’s third Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC 3.0). Participants will also consider ways to strengthen institutional capacity, develop climate finance mechanisms and prepare projects capable of attracting investment.

One of the key topics will be Uzbekistan’s initiative to engage with the Fund for Responding to Loss and Damage (FRLD).

The participants are also expected to discuss Uzbekistan’s involvement in the Climate BRIDGE initiative as one of its first pilot countries, with support from UNDP.

The Climate BRIDGE programme aims to translate the climate commitments set out in NDC 3.0 into concrete investment projects and develop a corresponding project portfolio.

Special attention will be given to developing National Adaptation Plans and strengthening the resilience of the most vulnerable areas and communities, including people living in the Aral Sea region.

The event is expected to bring together representatives of Uzbekistan’s government agencies, UNDP, international financial institutions and partner organisations.

The session will present the results and priorities of cooperation, explore opportunities to mobilise funding through the FRLD and discuss prospects for using Climate BRIDGE to prepare investment projects.

The meeting is expected to help identify further areas of cooperation and practical measures to mobilise climate finance and implement projects aimed at strengthening Uzbekistan’s resilience to climate change.
