Nurabad District Launches Intensive Pistachio Plantation Project

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — An intensive pistachio plantation project is being implemented on state reserve land in Nurabad District.

Samarkand Region Governor Adiz Boboyev inspected the progress of the project in the Nurdom mahalla and reviewed the newly established pistachio plantations. The Samarkand Region administration reported the visit.

During the visit, the regional governor instructed officials to expand the planting area in phases.

According to Boboyev, pistachio plantations covering 2,000 hectares are planned this year, followed by another 3,000 hectares next year. The total plantation area is expected to reach 20,000 hectares in the future.

Boboyev stressed that the project extends beyond planting trees.

He said the plantations should be maintained until they begin bearing fruit and then transferred to local residents, who will be able to manage the plantations, earn income and sell the harvest. He also instructed officials to strictly comply with agronomic requirements and approved planting schemes.

The first phase of the project is expected to create jobs for 500 local residents. Each worker will sign a contract assigning responsibility for 10 hectares of pistachio plantations.

According to the regional administration, the project is aimed at creating jobs and providing residents with a stable source of income.
