Number of Degree-Holding Researchers Rises in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan had 15,500 researchers holding a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), Candidate of Sciences, or an equivalent academic degree obtained abroad as of 1 January 2026, according to the National Committee on Statistics.

Compared with the same date a year earlier, the number increased by 1,400 people, or 9.9%.

The number of researchers holding a Doctor of Science (DSc) degree reached 4,800.

According to the statistics committee, this figure increased by 1,800 over the year, representing growth of 60%.
