Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A working group has been established in Namangan region to conduct an internal investigation after a video showing a teacher physically assaulting a first-grade student circulated on social media.

The press service of the Namangan Regional Department of Preschool and School Education reported this.

The incident occurred on 16 September at around 10:30 during the third lesson at School No. 39 in Kasansay district. According to preliminary information, a primary school teacher physically assaulted a student in Class 1-B because she was unable to read the assigned text.

An internal investigation is currently underway to provide a legal assessment of the incident and evaluate the actions of the responsible officials.

Following the investigation, measures will be taken against the school administration and the teacher in accordance with the procedure established by law.

The department separately emphasized the need to ensure the rights and legitimate interests of students at educational institutions, respect their honor and dignity, and prevent any form of violence.
