Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has urged China Energy International to make new investments in the water supply system of the Navoi region.

The issue was discussed on 16 October during a meeting between the president and executives of Chinese companies CAMCE, China Energy and Sinoma Energy, as well as Sayyid Aiman Al Busaidi, chairman of the board of Oman’s Voltamp Energy, the presidential press service reported.

During talks with Chinese investors, the sides reviewed joint projects in renewable energy, energy storage systems, waste processing and water supply.

They also supported initiatives to establish a logistics hub in the Andijan region, develop agrivoltaics and implement projects in the oil and gas sector.

Xiao Xuebin, president of China Energy International, described the meeting as productive in an interview with Uzbekistan 24 television. He said Mirziyoyev had specifically emphasised the importance of cooperation with China Energy Engineering Corporation (CEEC) and called on the company to expand its investment in developing the Navoi region’s water supply system.

“The president emphasised the importance of developing renewable energy sources, energy storage systems and reliable electricity grids. He also urged us to make new investments in the water supply system of the Navoi region,” Xiao said.

He added that, following the meeting, ministers and deputy prime ministers had been instructed to support the company’s operations and accelerate the implementation of new projects.

Xinling Meng, chairman of Sinoma Energy Conservation, also spoke about the company’s work in Uzbekistan. He said it had completed its first project in the Navoi region, involving solar power and energy storage.

“When we presented information about the results, the president expressed his satisfaction and said he would continue to support us in the future. We are pleased to invest in Uzbekistan and contribute to improving the population’s quality of life,” Xinling Meng said.

The meeting with representatives of Oman’s Voltamp Energy also covered projects to build solar power plants and establish power transformer manufacturing.
