Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan and Malaysia have agreed to expand cooperation in training specialists for the semiconductor industry, developing microelectronics and conducting technological research.
During a working visit by an Uzbek delegation to Malaysia, organisations and higher education institutions from the two countries signed memorandums of cooperation, according to the Information Service and Communications Department of Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Economy and Finance.
During the first stage of the visit in Kuala Lumpur, the delegation learned about the operations of the IC Design Park complex and Malaysian organisation MIMOS Berhad. Participants examined laboratories and technological infrastructure used for semiconductor wafer production, microelectronic device prototyping, integrated circuit testing and reliability assessment.
The delegation also attended the Selangor AI & Semiconductor Summit 2026, where it held meetings with organisations operating in the semiconductor and artificial intelligence sectors.
Memorandums were signed between Uzbekistan’s technical university ToshTech and Malaysia’s ASEM Academy and Great ASIC. A separate cooperation agreement links Cyber University with Malaysian higher education institutions Asia e University (AeU) and Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU), as well as the company AlphaSwift.
The agreements provide for training qualified specialists, exchanging expertise in advanced technologies, implementing scientific research and applied projects, and strengthening cooperation between educational institutions and industrial enterprises.
The Uzbek delegation’s working visit is continuing, with the second stage taking place in Penang.
The ministry’s statement did not provide further details on specific training programmes or timelines for implementing joint projects.
