Mirziyoyev Reviews “Karkidon” Tourist Complex in Ferghana Region

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — During his visit to the Ferghana region, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev inspected the implementation of projects at the new tourism complex being developed on the basis of the Karkidon reservoir in Kuva district.

The project is expected to become one of the key destinations for eco-tourism and active recreation in the Ferghana Valley. It is being implemented in accordance with a presidential decree dated 1 April 2025, with an estimated cost of 635 billion soums.

The total area of the complex is 508 hectares. It integrates agro-tourism, eco-tourism, and adventure tourism components.

Infrastructure at the site has already been upgraded, with ongoing landscaping and construction works. Within the complex, 45 chalets and 57 modern guest houses have been built. An agro-tourism cluster, a flower park, lavender fields, an eco-market, relaxation zones, and catering facilities have also been created.

After reviewing the project, the President emphasized that such initiatives contribute to improving living standards, stimulating regional economic growth, and strengthening the country’s tourism appeal.

Tourism was highlighted as an important tool for promoting Uzbekistan internationally, creating jobs, and increasing service exports.

According to plans, the complex will host more than 100 business entities and create around 2,000 jobs. Annual tourist flow is expected to reach 750,000 visitors. Budget revenues are projected at 3 billion soums, while tourism service exports may reach around US$5 million. Full commissioning is planned for 2027.

Future development plans include infrastructure for active recreation such as motocross tracks, a 2-kilometer cable car, karting, and golf facilities. These additions are intended to transform the area into one of the leading active tourism centers in the region.

Following the visit, responsible agencies were instructed to further develop tourism and service infrastructure, ensure comfortable conditions for local and foreign visitors, and guarantee sustainable operation of the complex.

The President also reviewed a new hotel and commercial facilities, as well as presentations of future tourism projects.

Similar tourism zones are planned around several other water bodies, including Lake Karateren in Takhtakupyr district, an artificial reservoir in Khanabad district, the Kuksaray reservoir in Khatyrchi district, Lake Arashan in Pap district, the Sabirsay reservoir in Nurabad district, and the Kattakurgan reservoir.

These initiatives aim to expand the country’s tourism potential, develop regional services, and increase household incomes.
