Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin held a meeting in Moscow on 8 May. The talks took place within the framework of events marking the 81st anniversary of Victory in the Second World War.

At the beginning of the meeting, the two leaders exchanged congratulations on the commemorative date. The sides discussed the development of Uzbekistan-Russia relations in the format of a comprehensive strategic partnership and alliance.

Special attention was given to economic cooperation. The leaders noted steady growth in bilateral trade and the implementation of joint projects in industry, energy, and metallurgy. They also discussed expanding cooperation and maintaining business ties between the regions of the two countries.

Vladimir Putin said relations between the two countries are developing dynamically and that Russia remains one of the key investors in Uzbekistan’s economy. He also highlighted the growth in trade and economic cooperation and the implementation of major projects.

“Relations between our countries have been developing in the best possible way in recent years. Trade turnover is growing, and major projects are being implemented,” said President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev, in turn, congratulated the Russian side on the 81st anniversary of Victory and stressed the importance of preserving historical memory. He reported growth in trade turnover and the active development of economic ties.

“In fact, our bilateral relations are developing very dynamically. In the first quarter, trade turnover growth amounted to 33 percent,” said President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The sides also exchanged views on issues of the international agenda and cultural and humanitarian cooperation.
