Mirziyoyev Meets with Young Innovators on Youth Day
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — On June 30, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with active youth from across the country at an exhibition organized in Olympic Town to mark Youth Day. The head of state reviewed projects focused on mahalla development, ecology, startups, engineering, and reading culture, speaking personally with their creators.
Islombek Muhammadjonov, a youth leader from the "Obod" mahalla in the Fergana district, shared that his "Obod Ta'lim" educational center has trained 600 peers in modern professions and foreign languages. He has also secured international contracts with companies in Germany. According to him, these efforts have transformed the mahalla into an area completely free from youth unemployment and crime.
The President also took note of initiatives presented by Gulira’no Mamirova, a master's student at "Green University" and coordinator for the "Yashil Tashabbuslar" (Green Initiatives) fund, who develops environmental and social projects alongside green innovation startups.
High praise was given to the artistic achievements of Odinakhon Ma’murjonova, winner of the painting competition's "Most Original Idea" category, and the initiative of Chinora Gulomova. Despite facing physical limitations, Gulomova runs the "Read and Develop" project, which supports children receiving education at home. Responsible officials were instructed to provide systemic support for similar initiatives aimed at strengthening an inclusive environment in society.
The potential of the country's youth was fully on display at the platform dedicated to startups, entrepreneurship, and professional education. Asilbek Ashurov, an 18-year-old graduate of the Presidential School and current student at the University of Chicago, presented his startup, Makon AI — an artificial intelligence-driven platform for SAT and AP exam preparation. According to Ashurov, the project has raised $380,000 in investments from over 100,000 clients and investors across the US, the Middle East, and North Africa, reaching a valuation of $3 million.
The achievements of Sardorbek Rakhmatulloev were also highlighted; he is the first Uzbekistani to pass through the Y Combinator accelerator program, having founded a startup in the US with an annual revenue of several thousand dollars and gained experience working at Meta Superintelligence. The President emphasized that implementing high-tech projects and helping young entrepreneurs enter foreign markets will remain a top priority of state policy.
In the engineering and innovation sector, students showcased developments in artificial intelligence and robotics. Biloliddin Ismoilov, a student at Turin Polytechnic University in Tashkent and national drone racing champion, shared that he is involved in developing domestic anti-drone systems. Aizada Asanova, a student at Nukus State Technical University and resident of the Nukus Youth Technopark, presented a project focused on next-generation vehicles. The President noted the importance of integrating these types of developments across various industries.
Cultural and educational milestones included the successes of international beauty and art contest winner Nigina Fakhriddinova and musician Amina Avazova, both of whom help elevate the international prestige of national culture. Sirojiddin Olimov, head of the "Mutolaa" project, reported that his mobile reading application has been downloaded nearly 5 million times, with the total number of books read on the platform exceeding 18 million.
Nilufar Ergasheva, a recipient of the Zulfiya State Prize and author of the book "Yashil So'z" (Green Word), proposed creating a literary map of Uzbekistan to boost literary tourism, alongside hosting poetry, music, and literary evenings at the Burkhoniddin Marginoni complex.
