Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The volume of loans issued to businesses under Uzbekistan’s Mahalla Loyihasi project reached 14.8 trillion soums in January-August 2026, up 4.7 trillion soums, or 47%, from the same period last year, the Central Bank of Uzbekistan said.
The January-August lending target was set at 10.1 trillion soums and was fulfilled by 146%. Actual lending exceeded the target by nearly 4.7 trillion soums, the central bank said. A total of 139,700 loans were issued under the project.
Lending increased across all regions of the country, according to the regulator. The highest growth rates were recorded in Navoiy region at 67%, Samarkand region at 65% and Syrdarya region at 50%.
Kashkadarya and Ferghana regions ranked among the five regions with the largest lending volumes under the project, with 1.51 trillion soums and 2.35 trillion soums, respectively. The combined volume of lending across the five leading regions reached 7.55 trillion soums.
The Central Bank of Uzbekistan noted that this year’s results reflect not only an increase in the number of loans issued, but also an expansion in the scale of financing across the regions and a significant overperformance against the established target.
