Lazizbek Saidaripov Re-elected COOMET President
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Director of the Uzbek Technical Regulation Agency, Lazizbek Saidaripov, was re-elected as president of the Euro-Asian Cooperation of National Metrological Institutions (COOMET) for a second consecutive term.
The voting procedure for the organization's leadership took place during the 38th meeting of the COOMET Committee, held in the capital of Tajikistan, the Dunyo news agency reported.
A representative from Uzbekistan first headed this international body in 2024.
During the current event, delegates emphasized that in recent years, the republic has actively modernized its national metrology system, consistently implemented international measurement standards, and expanded specialized external cooperation.
In addition to the re-election of the agency's head, representatives of Uzbekistan joined other governing bodies of COOMET. Specifically, Azamat Taubaldiev attained the status of chairperson of the Technical Committee for Ionizing Radiation and Radioactivity, while Alisher Botirov was appointed head of the Joint Working Group 1.6.6 "Flow Measurement."
COOMET, established in 1991, consolidates the national metrological institutes of states within the Eurasian region.
At various times, specialists from Poland, Russia, Slovakia, Ukraine, Belarus, and Kazakhstan have served as its presidents. The next meeting of the COOMET Committee members is scheduled for 2027 and will take place in Kazakhstan.
