Migration Agency Comments on Inspection of Migrants in Moscow

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The Migration Agency of Uzbekistan has issued an official statement regarding checks conducted on 27 July at a construction site in the Ochakovo-Matveyevskoye district of Moscow.

According to the agency, after video recordings of the control measures appeared in the media, staff from the Migration Agency's representative office in Russia immediately traveled to the site to investigate the situation. Preliminary information indicates that more than 320 foreign citizens were working at the construction facility, including citizens of Uzbekistan.

The agency reported that, together with the Embassy of Uzbekistan in the Russian Federation, a legal assessment of the incident is currently underway. Further details regarding the results of the review will be provided later.

The Migration Agency recalled that it is the authorized state body responsible for protecting the labor and other legal rights of Uzbek citizens abroad.

Citizens who believe their labor or other legal rights were violated during the inspections or under other circumstances are advised to contact the agency. If necessary, legal fees for attorney services can be reimbursed from the Migration Fund in amounts up to $3,000.

According to the department, the agency currently collaborates with more than 15 legal firms across Russia.

Additionally, citizens can be provided with free temporary housing for up to 30 days if needed. For inquiries, short code 1282, a 24-hour legal assistance bot, and the representative office of the Migration Agency in Moscow are available.
