Kyrgyzstan Returns 28 Tons of Vegetables to Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Kyrgyzstan has returned 28 tons of vegetables to Uzbekistan after violations of phytosanitary requirements were identified.

At the Kyzyl-Kiya Avtozholu checkpoint, specialists found that the packaging of the products arriving from Uzbekistan lacked mandatory labeling.

The Kyrgyz Republic’s Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry reported the findings.

The shipment consisted of 23 tons of onions and 5 tons of carrots. During a phytosanitary inspection, specialists found that the products did not have the required labeling on their packaging.

The ministry said that importing regulated products without labeling constitutes a violation of the unified quarantine and phytosanitary requirements of the Eurasian Economic Union.

Following the violation, the shipment was returned to the exporting country.

The Kyrgyz department continues work to ensure phytosanitary safety at the state border and monitor compliance with quarantine requirements.
