Kuvonchbek Ismoilov Wins Gold at U20 World Wrestling Championship

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbek wrestler Kuvonchbek Ismoilov won the gold medal in the 63 kg Greco-Roman event at the U20 World Wrestling Championships in Bratislava, Slovakia. He defeated Salim Kazmakhov 9-7 in the final bout.

Ismoilov launched his tournament campaign in the qualification round, defeating China's Zhaojian Wang 14-5.

In the round of 16, the Uzbek wrestler secured a 9-8 victory over Mattias Juhani Arpiainen of Finland.

Ismoilov advanced through the quarterfinals by defeating Tural Ahmadov 3-2, before edging out Clisman Adrian Carracedo Veliz 3-2 in the semifinals.

In the final, Ismoilov secured the world title with a 9-7 victory over Kazmakhov.

Bronze medals in the 63 kg weight category were awarded to Tural Ahmadov and Ali Mehr Ali Gharibi.
