Karshi Launches Probe into Deputy Hokim Over Video

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A service investigation has been launched in Karshi into the city’s first deputy hokim, Nurbek Turdiev, after a video from a meeting circulated on social media.

The footage, reportedly showing the official speaking in a harsh manner to subordinates and demanding that they work on weekends, triggered a strong public reaction.

The Karshi city administration said an inquiry has been initiated to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The State Labour Inspectorate has also been involved in the investigation.

According to the city authorities, a legal assessment of the official’s actions will be made following the review.
