Jizzakh Hosts First Digital Sports Youth Festival
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The first International Youth Festival of Digital Sports, titled “Atom Energy of Sports,” was held in Jizzakh from 15 to 17 April, bringing together competitions in cyber basketball, cyber football, phygital sports, algorithmic programming, and Counter-Strike.
The event was organized with the participation of partners including Uzatom, the engineering division of Russia’s state nuclear corporation Rosatom, the Jizzakh regional administration, the Basketball Federation of Uzbekistan, the Phygital Sports Federation of Uzbekistan, and the Center for Modern Sports Technologies of Rosenergoatom.
Competitions were held at the IT Arena and the Jizzakh College of Olympic Reserve. The festival was supported by Rosatom and Uzatom.
The event took place in Jizzakh region, where Uzbekistan’s first integrated nuclear power plant is planned to be built. The project envisions both small- and large-scale nuclear units on a single site.
A so-called “nuclear city” is expected to develop around the plant, with a focus on science and modern urban infrastructure.
Participants included school teams from districts of Jizzakh region, students from the Tashkent branch of the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI, universities in Jizzakh, as well as students from Russian universities including Ivanovo State Power Engineering University, Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, and Tomsk Polytechnic University. More than 350 participants took part in the competitions.
Honorary guests included representatives of regional authorities and partner organizations from Uzbekistan and Russia’s nuclear and sports sectors.
The festival also featured DJ performances by DJ Sonic (Russia), while the closing program included performances by the Jizzakh Musical Drama Theatre named after Yu. Rajabi and Uzbek performers Sevinch Ismoilova and Mashhur Muhammad.
The event was broadcast on social media platforms in both Russia and Uzbekistan through official channels of the Center for Modern Sports Technologies of Rosenergoatom.
