Israeli embassy hosts ceremony in memory of V.Makarov, A.Salaykhov

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Embassy of Israel in Tashkent on 30 July held the memorial ceremony in honour of Vyacheslav Makarov and Azat Salaykhov, killed in defence of the Embassy during the terrorist attack of 30 July 2004, a press release of the Israeli embassy said.

Families of the victims, representatives of the Uzbek government (Protocol Division and Middle East Division of the MFA), representatives of diplomatic corps and religious leaders participated in the event, the release said.

The event was opened by the anthems of Uzbekistan and Israel. Ambassador of Israel Hillel Newman, representatives of Uzbek state institutions, Jewish community of Uzbekistan gave speeches and representative of the Russian Church served memorial a prayer.

The ceremony was concluded with the placing of flowers at the memorial monument at the entrance to the embassy, the release reads.
