Gulshan Alimardonova Becomes Uzbekistan’s First World Karate Champion

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbek national team member Gulshan Alimardonova has won the gold medal at the World Karate Championship held in Egypt, the Ministry of Sports reported.

Competing in the under-50 kg weight category, Alimardonova confidently defeated her Malaysian opponent, Shahmalarani Chandran, in the final match.

Alimardonova’s victory is historic: she is the first female karateka from Uzbekistan to claim the title of World Champion.
