Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — An interregional policy dialogue titled “Integrated Policy Approach to Greening Food and Agricultural Systems” was held in Budapest, Hungary, on 15–16 September.
The event was organized in cooperation with the regional offices of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) for Europe and Central Asia, as well as the Near East and North Africa, the Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan said.
Representatives of Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Agriculture took part in the event and shared the country’s experience in developing green agriculture.
During the two-day dialogue, participants discussed sustainable and environmentally efficient agricultural development, comprehensive approaches to current challenges facing agri-food systems, and the exchange of best practices among countries.
As part of Uzbekistan’s presentation, participants were introduced to the Tosa Dala initiative, the activities of the Surkhan-Agro special greenhouse farming zone and a new subsidy system being introduced in agriculture.
The event also included practical field visits to regions of Hungary. During the visits, participants studied the country’s best practices in agriculture, exchanged views on challenges facing the sector and discussed ways to address them.
Following the dialogue, proposals were put forward on the sustainable development of agri-food systems, strengthening cross-sectoral cooperation and introducing effective policy mechanisms.
