EBRD says Uzbek economy to grow by 5% in 2009

European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) forecasted that Uzbekistan’s gross domestic product (GDP) will grow 5% in 2009 and 6% in 2010.
The bank issued its economic growth forecast for Eastern Europe on 7 May and updated its earlier forecasts, issued in January 2009.
EBRD lowered its forecasts for all Central Asian states, except Uzbekistan. Earlier, the bank also forecasted 5% GDP growth in the country in 2009.
