Nearly 80,000 Fined for Fare Evasion in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Since the beginning of 2026, 79,618 administrative reports have been issued against fare-evading passengers on Tashkent buses, the state institution "Monitoring and Control of Passenger Transport of Tashkent" announced.

Control and raid operations are conducted by the institution's inspectors to improve the payment culture in public transport and ensure compliance with current legislation.

Fines were imposed on violators under Part 5 of Article 144 of the Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Administrative Responsibility. The fine for fare-evading travel is one-tenth of the base calculating amount, equal to 41,200 soums.

According to the institution, during the reporting period, the total amount of fines collected from passengers who violated fare payment rules reached almost 2 billion soums.

The agency emphasized that timely payment of fares is a key factor in the stable operation of the public transport system. Fare revenues are used to ensure the regularity of bus service, improve passenger service quality, and develop transport infrastructure.

"Every fare payment is a contribution to the development of public transport. By paying their fare, passengers contribute to improving the convenience, reliability, and quality of the transport system," the institution noted.
