Uzbekistan and Malaysia Discuss Semiconductor Industry Development
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Representatives of Uzbekistan met with executive leadership of the Malaysian technology group Dagang NeXchange Berhad (DNeX) in Kuala Lumpur to discuss prospects for developing the semiconductor industry and high-tech manufacturing in Uzbekistan.
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to Malaysia and a representative of the Ministry of Economy and Finance of Uzbekistan attended the meeting.
The parties considered issues related to establishing a semiconductor ecosystem in Uzbekistan, training highly qualified specialists, attracting investment, exchanging advanced experience, and implementing joint high-tech projects.
Special attention was given to DNeX’s experience in the semiconductor industry. As one of Malaysia's major technology groups, the company operates in digital technologies, information and communications services, energy, and semiconductor manufacturing.
In 2021, DNeX acquired a 60% stake in SilTerra Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., one of Malaysia's leading semiconductor manufacturers.
Following the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their interest in creating a modern semiconductor ecosystem in Uzbekistan, introducing advanced technologies, developing high-tech manufacturing capacity, and expanding investment cooperation.
Representatives of the two countries agreed to continue collaboration in these areas.
