Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The volume of non-performing loans (NPLs) in commercial banks of Uzbekistan reached 22.9 trillion soums as of 1 July 2026, accounting for 3.6% of the total loan portfolio of 642.8 trillion soums, according to data on the credit asset quality of the banking system.
In state-owned banks, the share of non-performing debt is above the system average at 3.9%, while in other banks it is lower at 2.9%. However, the situation among state banks is non-uniform: National Bank of Uzbekistan, the country's largest bank, recorded an NPL ratio of 3.0% on a loan portfolio of 107.1 trillion soums, while Agrobank posted 3.5%. The highest share of bad loans among state lenders was recorded by Microcreditbank at 7.9% (1.8 trillion soums out of a portfolio of 22.8 trillion soums) and Business Development Bank at 5.8%.
Among non-state banks, TBC Bank stood out sharply, with its non-performing loan ratio reaching 12.1%—the highest figure in the banking system—on a portfolio of 8.3 trillion soums and NPL volume of 1 trillion soums. High ratios were also reported by Anorbank at 7.4%, Poytaxt Bank at 7.3%, AVO Bank at 6.8%, and Garant Bank at 6.7%.
Hamkorbank and Asia Alliance Bank demonstrated the most stable portfolio quality with an NPL ratio of 1.2%, followed by Orient Finans Bank at 1.7%. A number of smaller banks—KDB Bank Uzbekistan, Apex Bank, Octobank, and Uzum Bank—have virtually no non-performing debt, with ratios ranging from 0% to 0.4%, although these figures involve significantly smaller loan portfolios.
Among major retail and mortgage players, Ipoteka-bank showed an NPL ratio of 3.0% on a portfolio of 36.3 trillion soums, while Kapitalbank recorded 2.1% on a portfolio of 38 trillion soums.
