Denis Istomin defeats world no. 14

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) -- Uzbekistan number one Denis Istomin progressed to the second round of Dubai Duty Free Tennis Champioships in the United Arab Emirates.

In the first round Denis Istomin defeated world no. 14 Ernests Gulbis of Latvia in straight sets with the score 7:5 and 6:2.

The match lasted 1 hour and 33 minutes. Gulbis recorded five aces, 11 double faults and two break points.

Denis Istomin, in his turn, registered eight aces and five break points during the match.

In the second round, Istomin will face the winner of the match between Sergiy Stakhovsky of Ukraine and Lukáš Rosol of the Czech Republic.
