Consulate reunites 13-year-old Uzbek boy with mother
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Istanbul provided assistance to a 13-year-old Uzbek citizen found in the city's Beyoglu district, reuniting him with his mother on 1 September 2026, according to an official statement from the diplomatic mission.
The situation began on 30 August 2026 at 22:30, when an imam from a local mosque in the Beyoglu district contacted the consulate to report an unaccompanied minor identified as S. Dj., a citizen of Uzbekistan.
Diplomats from the Consulate General immediately traveled to the location and brought the teenager to the diplomatic facility. Consular staff then took steps to locate and contact his close relatives.
The minor was safely handed over to his mother on 1 September 2026.
The Consulate General of Uzbekistan expressed its gratitude to the relevant Turkish authorities and citizens who assisted in resolving the situation.
