Competition Committee Reminds Retail Chains of the Unacceptability of Unjustified Price Increases Ahead of the New Year
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan’s Committee for the Development of Competition and Consumer Protection has sent notifications to retail chains, reminding them of the need to ensure price stability for food products in the run-up to the New Year holidays.
Retail chains have been instructed to promptly inform the committee of any potential price changes initiated by suppliers, report increases in logistics or other associated costs, and warn suppliers against unjustified price hikes. Relevant notices have been sent to the retail networks Korzinka, Makro, Havas, Baraka, Magnum, Assorti, B1, and Magnit.
The committee emphasized that these measures are intended to prevent price speculation and to maintain stable prices for socially significant food products during a period of heightened consumer demand ahead of the New Year celebrations.
