CASCA+ Countries Agree to Expand Railway Corridor

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan and five partner countries have agreed to expand cooperation in railway transportation under the CASCA+ project, aimed at developing an international transport corridor and increasing freight volumes, according to Uztemiryulkonteyner.

The development of the corridor was discussed during a meeting between Abdumalik Kamiljanov, Deputy Chairman of Uzbekistan Railways, and representatives of the railway administrations of Türkiye, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan. The parties reviewed the current status of the CASCA+ route and its future development prospects.

Participants analyzed the project's results for 2025 and the first quarter of 2026, and discussed existing constraints affecting corridor operations and possible measures to address them.

Particular attention was given to proposals aimed at improving transport efficiency, reducing transit times, enhancing the quality of logistics services and establishing a competitive tariff policy.

Following the talks, the six parties signed an agreement on the further development of the CASCA+ corridor. The document provides for increasing freight traffic volumes and expanding mutually beneficial cooperation among participating countries.

Earlier, in May 2024, representatives of the project countries met in Tashkent to discuss the possible establishment of a consortium to coordinate corridor operations, as well as the introduction of digital solutions for cargo tracking and the development of specialized logistics services.
