Bukhara reinforces 9 km of Juyzar canal
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Head of the Presidential Administration Saida Mirziyoyeva visited Bukhara region to review the results of work on projects discussed in the region in May.
A total of 9 km of the Juyzar canal has already been reinforced, while work continues on another 10 km, the Presidential Administration of Uzbekistan said.
The canal’s concreting is expected to save about 12 million cubic meters of water annually. A fish farm has also started operating near the canal.
During the visit, a new 240-seat kindergarten was presented in the Shaykhoncha mahalla.
Particular attention was paid to the development of tourism infrastructure in Bukhara region. Projects under consideration include construction of the Afshona complex, creation of ethnic-style houses, restoration of the historic Juyi Muliyon canal, construction of hotels and a tourism cluster near the new airport.
According to Saida Mirziyoyeva, implementation of these projects should help increase the annual tourist flow to Bukhara to 10 million people. Another goal is to turn the region into a standalone tourism destination rather than simply a transit point for travelers.
At the end of the visit, the head of the Presidential Administration visited the holy sites of Bukhara’s Seven Pirs.
