AUIC Highlights Regional Investment at Outlook Forum 2026
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Nazim Gadiyev, Chief Executive Officer of the Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan Investment Company (AUIC), spoke at Investment Outlook Forum 2026, held in Baku on 16 June.
The forum, organised by Azerbaijan's Ministry of Economy and the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Agency (AZPROMO), took place as part of the annual meetings of the Islamic Development Bank Group.
Participants included representatives of government institutions, development organisations and private investors from the South Caucasus, Central Asia, the Middle East and other regions. Azerbaijan's Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov opened the forum.
Gadiyev took part in the session titled "Capital, Growth and Opportunities in Azerbaijan and the Region." Responding to questions about the role of regional integration for investors in Central Asia and the South Caucasus, he said that, for institutional investors, regional cooperation has become an integral part of project evaluation rather than an additional consideration. He noted that joint infrastructure and logistics solutions help reduce country risks and expand investment opportunities that would otherwise be limited to a single jurisdiction.
According to Gadiyev, regional integration is reflected in practical mechanisms, including shared investment platforms, regulatory harmonisation and joint project financing. Speaking about promising areas for joint investment between Azerbaijan and Central Asia, he identified logistics and transport infrastructure, the digital economy and education as sectors with the greatest potential for cross-border projects.
"Participation in events like this is an established practice for AUIC. The company not only shares its experience and views on the region's investment opportunities but also identifies projects with financing potential," Gadiyev said.
The company's investment portfolio currently totals about US$144 million.
Among AUIC's ongoing projects are the development of an international school in Tashkent, which is being implemented in addition to the previously financed American University of Technology, as well as a multidisciplinary hospital project.
The Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan Investment Company was established by the governments of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan in 2023 with authorised capital of US$500 million.
The company provides direct financing for commercial projects in Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan to support the economic development of both countries.
