Artur Taymazov stripped of 2008 gold for doping
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) --
Wrestler from Uzbekistan Artur Taymazov was stripped of his gold medal of the 2008 Beijing Games.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) adopted the corresponding decision after re-testing doping probes.
Artur Taymazov won gold in the men’s 96-120kg freestyle wrestling at Beijing. Reanalysis of his samples tested positive for the banned steroids turinabol and stanozolol.
Taymazov also won gold at Athens 2004 and London 2012 and is a double world champion. He keeps those medals.
