Arsenal and Atletico Draw 1-1 in UCL Semifinal

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — London’s Arsenal played to a 1-1 draw away against Atletico Madrid in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League semifinal.

The score in Madrid was opened in the 44th minute when Arsenal striker Viktor Gyökeres converted a penalty. In the second half, Atletico restored parity in the 56th minute through a spot-kick successfully converted by Julián Álvarez.

Gyökeres became the first Swedish footballer to score in a Champions League semifinal. Meanwhile, Álvarez reached 25 goals in Europe’s premier club competition faster than any other South American player, achieving the milestone in 41 matches.

The return leg between the two sides will take place on 5 May in London.
