12.9 Billion Soums Illegal Subsidies Uncovered in Ferghana
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The unwarranted allocation of 12.9 billion soums in budget subsidies based on false thermal energy supply data has been uncovered in the Ferghana region, the Department for Combating Economic Crimes under the General Prosecutor's Office of Uzbekistan reported.
The violations were established by the Ferghana city branch of the department during a preliminary investigation into the activities of the regional branch of the Issiklik Taminoti enterprise.
According to the agency, in 2024–2025 and in January–May 2026, the enterprise actually supplied 85,700 gigacalories of thermal energy to the population. However, documents submitted to the regional department of economy and finance reported energy delivery at 212,300 gigacalories, approximately 2.5 times higher than the actual figure.
The department stated that submitting false information enabled officials at the enterprise to obtain additional budget subsidies totaling 12.9 billion soums. According to the agency's assessment, state interests suffered damage on an especially large scale.
A criminal case has been opened regarding the matter, and investigative actions are currently underway.
The department's report did not specify the articles of the Criminal Code under which the case was opened, nor the number or positions of the individuals being investigated.
